| What's
So SCARY About Recruiting? |

Lots
of things are fantastically frightening this time in October
as we prepare for the ever-popular tradition of Halloween.
Strange things have been brewing in the recruiting industry
as well. The requests and offerings being tossed back and
forth have some people thinking that there must be a full
moon.
Recruiters
need not agonize over interesting ways to lure a candidate
or the perfect job. Good candidates have the right to be
as bold as ever in their requests, and employers are pulling
out all the stops to make both new and existing employees
as happy as possible.

the availability of e-mail, voicemail, mobile phones, portable
laptops, CRM software, the Internet, and every other form
of communication, the oldest recruiting problem in the world
still exists: recruiter communication with candidates is

While
its the company that ultimately decides whether the candidate
should have the opportunity to work there, it is the candidate
that is the buyer. Thus, every minute in between those two
decisions is critical. The impact communication (or a lack
thereof) has on candidate decisions is far more significant
than most recruiters realize...

Scenario:
One of your competitors is sending letters to your clients
stating that they charge less. The letters say things like:
“Are you overpaying for recruiting?” and “We reduce fees,
not service.” A client confronts you with the letter and
demands a fee reduction. What do you say?

Portal Profile: Gamasutra.com |

I
am looking for software engineers and C++ programmers, why
would I be interested in Gamasutra.com, a portal for the
gaming industry?? Two reasons:
First,
developing electronic games requires the talents of some
of the brightest, most innovative, software engineers and
web gurus available. Second, thousands of non-gaming industry
professionals, with excellent technical talent, also visit
the site --- because they love electronic games.
