| Brick
and Mortars vs. Dot Coms -- From an HR Perspective |
| By
Jim Sweet, Human Resource Management Systems, LLC |
|
The
following is a comparison of traditional organizations (Brick
& Mortar) and start-up or technology driven companies (dot-coms).
The
premise behind the exercise is that the human resources
profession, if it is to serve emerging e-commerce organizations,
will need to reinvent itself and completely re-think its
tools and processes. The
factors on which I compare these types of companies are
intended to form an evolutionary chain from the most basic
(compliance) to the most advanced (fully integrated HR strategy)
HR activities.

| Timely
Tips: Spruce-Up Your E-mail With Web Links |
| Adding
a web link to an e-mail is a great way to share articles and
other information with co-workers and clients. It's easy to
do too, requiring three simple steps: |
|
1:
After locating the article you wish to link too, simply
highlight the complete site address (URL) with your mouse
and select 'copy'.
2:
Exit the site and open your e-mail program.
3:
Write your e-mail and 'paste' the link directly into the
text page. The link is now ready to send.
NOTE:
Some e-mail programs, such as AOL, do not recognize web
links or URLS. In place of the active, highlighted URL address,
regular text will appear.
